HOW TO USE PINKGRIP DRY FIX

Pinkgrip Dry Fix is a revolutionary new adhesive and like most building products there’s a knack to using it, here’s a few tips on getting the best out of it:-

PREPARATION

-        Shake can well, about 20 times before using (and occasionally during use).

-        Surfaces must be clean, sound and dust free, ensure metals are free from any grease or oils.

-        Only apply in temperature range 2°C to 25°C.

-        Turn can upside down and screw gun carefully onto the black adaptor of the can.

-        Must only be applied using a Pinkgrip Dry Fix Applicator Gun, ordinary Foam Guns MUST NOT BE USED.

-        If can has been kept in cold conditions bring to room temperature before use, a handy way is to stand the can in a bucket of hot water, do not heat up by any other method.

SAFETY

NEVER USE HEAT FROM A BLOWTORCH TO WARM CAN UP.

ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION & GLOVES WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT.

APPLICATION

-        Always use can upside down

-        Adjust screw on rear of gun so it provides a bead of approx 25mm diameter, carry out a small trial application so you are happy with the rate of extrusion.

-        Apply either to board or wall, firstly around perimeter, then at (approx) 40cm (16”) centres. Application to the board laid flat with its end against the wall is generally the quickest method for application to solid walls.

-        For application to vertical surfaces, including battens or studding always apply fron the bottom up.

-        For fixing Floorboards or Roof Decking apply adhesive to Beams or surface to be bonded to and leave to stand for 4-5 minutes then apply board, ensure board is lined up and placed carefully and accurately into position to avoid dislodging adhesive.

-        Immediately after application ALWAYS leave adhesive to “cure” for 4-5 minutes before placing board in position. This time delay is very important as it prevents post expansion of the P.U adhesive taking place after the board is on the wall and allows the adhesive to thicken so it bonds very quickly when the board is placed into position.

-        The “cure” is affected by temperature and humidity in the atmosphere, in very humid conditions cure speed will be increased, in very dry conditions it will take a little longer, adjust the time delay to suit conditions.

-        In very dry conditions cure speed can be increased by moistening the wall or battens with water.

-        Pay careful attention to the time delay and ALWAYS use the same time delay on every board to ensure consistency.

-        After the 4-5 minute delay, lever the board into position.

-        Lever the board up into position then press firmly across the whole face of the board , starting at the top. Ensure the top and all edges receive as much pressure as the rest of the board.

Apply subsequent boards ensuring edges are firmly butted up at this stage.

Boards must always be supported at the bottom by the floor or by placing

packers underneath.

-        Hold board in place for approx 1 minute until adhesive is cured enough to hold the board on its own. WAIT ONE HOUR – THEN PLASTER!

CLEAN UP

-        Excess adhesive or spillages can be removed whilst still wet with Everbuild Dual Purpose Foam Cleaner.

-        Use Dual Purpose Foam Cleaner to keep the nib of the gun clean during use, and before storage.

-        Everbuild Wonder Wipes will remove wet and semi-cured foam from hands and most surfaces.

STORAGE

-        The gun can be left on the can when not in use, always close the gun valve using the screw on the rear of the gun when not in use to prevent adhesive curing in the gun.

-        When removing the gun ALWAYS clean it thoroughly with Everbuild Dual Purpose Foam Cleaner before storage.

Storage

Store can upright between 15 and 20oC.

Shelf Life

12 months from date of manufacturer (see base of can for expiry date) when stored in original unopened cans between 15 and 20°C in vertical position – always keep can upright. Once opened, shelf life is reduced to one month from original use.
